Game Rules
- 6 players (1 goalie; 1 women minimum, 5 men maximum)
- Two 25 minute halves with a 5 minute halftime
- Size 5 soccer ball
- Unlimited substitutions
- Substitutions must be done during a neutral play, not to gain an advantage on a play
- Goalkeepers may be swapped during the game
- Referee must be made aware of goalkeeper swaps during the game
- Referee does not need to be made aware of field player substitutions
- A referee will be present at each game
- Standard Corner kick rules apply
- No throw ins, only kick ins
- There is no offside
- All kickoffs/restarts are indirect
- No slide tackling
- Goalies may only slide in their box however it must be a legal slide
- ALL players must sign a waiver to play
- Only registered players will be allowed to play in playoffs. Teams must be finalized before the start of playoffs
Goalkeepers
- Goalkeepers may slide in their box however it must be a legal slide
- Goalkeepers may NOT slide outside of their box
- Goalkeepers may NOT pick up a ball intentionally played to them by foot
- Goalkeepers must release the ball 5 seconds after gaining ball control with their hands
- Goalkeepers may use their hands in the small and large goalkeeper box
- Goalkeepers may NOT score off a goal kick
- Goalkeepers may be swapped during the game
- Referee must be made aware of goalkeeper swaps during the game
Gear + Uniforms
- Shin guards are mandatory and must be worn at all times
- Soccer cleats recommended, NO metal cleats
- NO metal cleats allowed
- Teams must have similar colored jerseys (different colored shorts and socks are okay)
Code of Conduct
- Integrity
- Sportsmanship
- Win or lose, maintain a positive attitude
- Encourage teammates and refrain from negative comments toward others
- Respect for Opponents
- Treat all opponents with respect. Remember they are fellow competitors who share your love for the game
- Avoid aggressive or unsportsmanlike behavior, including taunting, unnecessary physical contact, or intentional fouling
- In case of a foul, whether intentional or accidental, check on the well-being of the other player. Ensuring safety and care for fellow players is part of good sportsmanship
- Play with respect for the safety of yourself and others. Avoid reckless or dangerous play that could cause injury
- Aggressive behavior, including fighting or threatening others, will result in immediate disciplinary action.
- Respect for Referees
- Accept and respect the decisions of referees
- If you have concerns about officiating, bring them to the attention of league organizers in a respectful manner
Misconduct
- There will be no tolerance for fighting
- Team will be awarded a free kick if fouled
- All free kicks are indirect; deflected goals will not count
- Opposing team must stand at least 5 feet away from the ball
- Yellow card - 2 minutes (team plays down a player). If the team with the infraction is scored on within this two minute time frame, they may immediately return to full strength (all 6 players on the field).
- Red card - Player is ejected (team plays down a player for remainder of game) and must leave the field area. Player must miss the following game and meet with the league Director before being reinstated. We reserve the right to remove any player from the league who can not adhere to our rules and Regulations.
Field Rules
- Soccer cleats recommended, NO metal cleats
- No pets allowed on the grass
- No food or colored and/or sweetened beverages on the field – only water is allowed
- Please deposit all water bottles in the trash after use. No glass of any kind
- No gum or sunflower seeds on the field
- No spitting or other bodily fluids
Cancellations & Refunds
- Games will be played rain or shine unless it is pouring
- Notifications will be sent for canceled games
- All refunds/cancellations must be made before the schedule is made for the season. Long Beach Premier Soccer may deny any refund requests that are made after a season schedule has been sent to the league
- No refunds are made for injuries, red cards, or season drops
